Protect your vehicle, your individual self or others in times of an accident. If you were to ram into another person or another person damages your vehicle, you need an adequate policy. You can opt for a comprehensive policy, you would normally be covered for everything that a Third Party Fire and Theft policy would cover. Clearly concentrating and sticking to the rules of the road is the best policy but so too is making sure you have the best car insurance in place should you be involved in an accident.
It could be mere replacement of broken/damaged windscreens or simple repairs such as replacement of tyres, you can claim for it from your insurance company. In addition to this, a comprehensive policy also covers you for personal accident benefits or medical expenses. This may not be covered by other policies.
Temporary cover or a day’s cover: A short term car cover is required if you are planning to take your friend’s vehicle for a day or you have given your vehicle to your son or your wife for a vacation. It is advisable to take out a policy even for a day, as you are uncertain about the happenings on the road. It provides cover against damage of the insured's car or van due to an accident, damage or loss caused by fire, theft or vandalism and legal obligations to third party claims for injury or damage to their property. Instead of purchasing a long term policy, you can opt for a one day policy if you are taking a car out for a shorter time. It is ideal if you want to drive additional cars/vans or you want to allow additional drivers to drive your vehicle. If you are planning to purchase a vehicle then it is also ideal if you want cover to drive the car away immediately whilst you are still arranging your annual car insurance policy.
Short term cover is ideal for those who have their vehicle parked most of the time. If you don’t take out your vehicle more often, you must not opt for a normal insurance, instead you must try out short term cover. This will save you heavy policy premiums which you would have otherwise lost in a longer policy. Understand your policy needs and get a policy accordingly! Compare the premium amount which you’d be paying against your car insurance policy.
