You need a method to overcome compulsive behavior, and firmness to succeed. You have to be revitalized, determined, and focused. Goals must be realistic.
Your opponents should not weaken your decision to overcome compulsion. Face Temptation with determination. Concentrate on your resolve. Do not allow temptations to drift into your subconscious grab your resolve and chase them out, they will weaken your decisions. In the face of temptation, do not waver. Be warned when temptations occur, accept it but do not give in. Be stubborn, even when friends are tempting you, Refuse to eat junk food and you will conquer. Praise yourself when you succeed.
It is earnest to refuse that there is nothing more to do. Stubbornly refusing to do something has power. Decisions become firm when we refuse adamantly.
Being intent is to be fixed on something Be like an athlete ready for the battle. Be steadfast. Do not be preoccupied. Just as an archer aims for the bull's eye, he is focused to hit the target. After he has released his arrow, he relaxes and gets ready to be focused again. The concentration is exhausting. Stay focused. You can do it. Keep focused on the target and be totally fixed on it everyday, particularly before meals or distraction. When it is done, be relaxed until the next target comes up. The mind can be persistent, and often you will find that it was all useless, without being aware until it's too late. This occurs to everyone. It can give you a boost of decision to be more vigilant.
Fixed decisions end mental wars. Faint decisions are meaningless. There will be circumstances when you compromise and feel you failed. Be firm. If you have made the decision to finish a bowl of food per meal, decide to feel hungry before eating. Be firm with your decision! "I am not getting pushed around any more. Food will not control me. I am immovable. My decision is final. I am not giving in." The mental war ends.
You are determined to succeed. Go over the reasons every day to affirm the purpose of your original decision. As soon as you slacken in your decision, the struggle starts. Do not buckle, you will succeed.
Compulsion is a monstrous cycle. Pain comes in, emotions stir to a storm: fear, insecurity, anxiety, feeling empty and deprived. These feelings will not exist if you stand firm.
