Freedom from Compulsive Eating

One needs great effort to cease the uncontrollable craving for food. Therefore, develop your battling skills to beat compulsive actions. This battle is for liberation; refuse to fail. You can feel fervent emotions and choose not to surrender. Command yourself, “I refuse to quit. I will not budge. I refuse to fall." During the emotional windstorms caused by enticement, enquire of yourself, what do I really desire? Eating to reduce stress is not what you desire. What you really need is to be serene. Eating out of anger is not what you want. You need to resolve the issue. Eating to relieve fear is not what you want. You need to face it and conquer it. You do not want to eat because you are bored. What you really want is, a challenge that will stir real action within you. Do not fight obsessive thoughts, but turn them into empowering thoughts and rewarding activities. Schedule mini-breaks to shift your mood and put a halt to obsessive thinking. Find a little time to do something you enjoy until the emotions diminish. Sing a song, get some exercise, take a brisk walk, or take a relaxing bath. Not only will you be battling addictive thoughts, but strengthening your life. Do not surrender; every time you do, the pleasure will create a desire to repeat it. Reaffirm to yourself that junk food is fake pleasure. If you do not nurture a craving, it will end. If you become anxious, inhale slowly and deeply, hold it for a moment, and then release, think peace. Create the feeling of revulsion until you are sickened: finger nails making a scratching sound, or hair in your soup, Picture an image that suits you. Use negative association. Chips are flavored pieces of cholesterol and fat. Create your own negative labels for the foods you are trying to quit. Play this mental procedure to end; look at the whole picture. Don’t look only at the pleasure, but be aware of all the unwanted possibilities. When you focus yourself, you feel as though you had lost something, and feel cheated. Battle that emotion with the truth that you have what it takes to be happy. Challenge the emotion of loss. Remember the bad qualities of junk food. Stop eating them. Avoid triggers like donut stores and bakeries. Reduce your time in the kitchen or at the lunch table when you feel the urge to eat. Plan your meals. Take fruits or vegetables for snacks. The first few days can be the most difficult. If you feel weak and out of it, it will be challenging to control your thoughts. Discipline is a battle, and toxic feelings lead to an irresponsible attitude. It will vanish once the blood clears of toxins. Give it your best amidst these periods to remain steadfast.
