One of the best things that you can do to promote your blog is to write articles for monster online content directories. This may seem like a somewhat backwards model, I mean, how do you get something from nothing? But the basic principle is pretty sound. While you aren’t directly getting paid for this work, you are receiving tons of free PR for your site, because every article that you write has your URL attached to it. You are trading your talent for all those links. What’s better, many sites use this content to supplement their own content, and thus will give you more free advertising! I’ll be honest with you. This whole internet blogging thing is new to me, and I only consider myself an average writer. I’m not going to win a Pulitzer, and I don’t seriously expect to make a million dollars, despite what my tagline says. But I am smart, and ok, I’m a little desperate too. As Steve Pavlina says on his blog: The tagline for this site is “Personal Development for Smart People.” And unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), smart people are a minority on this planet. So while most people can’t make a living this way, I would say that most smart people can. Begin by heading over to submitter.co.za - it’s a free service that signs you up for over 1,000 free article sites. You write an article, and it gets zipped along without much work. A word to the warning, though: set yourself up another Gmail account because you are going to receive A LOT of emails. I made the mistake of using my primary email and my in-box was immediately stuffed with 750+ submission activation links, and every time I write an article, I get tons more. After you’ve clicked on those activation links like a drone, start getting like a busy bee and submit some articles. My suggestion is that you start a blog and write one article per week. Make sure you do a bit of research on your blog topic, because the point is to become self-sufficient, and you’ll need to pick a topic that appeals to a massive amount of people. I’m not saying that you should make it your primary focus - remember, I said only one article per week - but do make it a popular topic. Very shortly you should see some results. Be sure to let me know what you think of my idea, and how it has worked out for you!
