Karaoke - Best Tips To Have The Time Of Your Life

By: Chelsea M Butterworth

1)Your Choice of Song

The final choice of song will work best within the range of your vocals and experience. Squeaking and straining through your chosen Whitney Housten track is not the way to go, don’t take on a song that’s too much for you! A song that you really love will sound better because your natural enjoyment of this particular song will make you sparkle. You must try and find your ‘Banquet Song,’ known as a Juhachiban in Japan, this is the song that will always impress the audience and give them something to talk about.

2)Remember to Practice

If you have limited experience of Karaoke then getting a bit of time with the hair brush will improve your performance on the day. If you get the opportunety to then listen back to how you sound singing and see if you really sound good and even a second opinion could help you to feel less nervous.

3)Warming Up Your Voice

When your at the venue ensure your voice is nice and relaxed and when your turn has arrived then warm up your voice by singing along to whatever song is on before you but don’t go for any notes you can’t hit.

4)Avoid Alcohol And drink Water

Your audience will thank you for having a drink of water to allow your throat to be well hydrated, also if you’re a smoker take it easy on the cigarettes too, smoking won’t improve your vocal talents and unless you’re doing a Edith Piaf tribute. The key to improving your vocal performance is drinking lots of water this will ensure the performance is as good as it can be.

5)Singing Without Any Inhibitions

The most important thing is to be serene and have a positive style, if you’re too anxious it will be reflected in the first big note you hit. So focus on your breathing and staying steady and calm, let your track begin and then start your performance, really shut your eyes for a second and imaging your back at home just singing because you love it.
