Medtronic Class Action Lead Recall Lawyer

The Medtronic Recall action for its Sprint Fidelis leads has caused an extraordinary situation in the US. Medtronic takes the largest part of market share for their Sprint Fidelis leads.

Medtronic class action lead recall lawyers are largely found in the United States. Many patients and/or their relatives are filing the lawsuits against the company and thereby, there is suddenly a huge demand for the specialty lawyers, often referred to as ‘Medtronic defibrillator lead recall class action lawsuit lawyers’.

These lawyers are currently investigating Medtronic lead cases throughout the US and Canada. Following are some of the important questions for both the patients and lawyers who are willing to handle the Medtronic lead cases:

Q. What is the need for a defibrillator?
A. These devices are necessary for someone who has problems with their heart rhythms.

Q. What is defibrillator lead (as in Medtronic Lead)?
A. A defibrillator has two parts. First one is the actual computerized high tech device that constantly monitors the heart’s rhythms and takes dynamic decision as to whether and when an electric shock should be given. The leads are the second part which actually connects this device to the heart veins. They are like messengers which convey abnormal heart signals to the defibrillator as well as deliver a shock to such abnormally beating heart when required.

Q. What the Medtronic Leads are problematic?
A. A faulty lead poses two-pronged problem. First, it will fail to deliver an electric shock to the heart when needed and second, they might deliver an unnecessary electric jolt. In most of the cases, the doctors can re-program the defibrillator so as to minimize the risk of lead defect, without an invasive surgery. The only problem is that there is no sure-shot way of knowing how effective this surgery will be. Without any substantial statistics, most of the doctors are recommending NOT to remove the existing Medtronic Sprint Fidel Lead as the surgery can actually give rise to other complications.

Q. Is Medtronic the only manufacture of defibrillator leads?
A. Medtronic takes the largest part of market share for their Sprint Fidelis leads. Other defibrillator manufactures such as St. Jude and Guidant also use the same Medtronic leads. One can check their wallet card to confirm if their defibrillator has Sprint Fidelis 6949, 6931, 6943 or 6948.

Q. Is Medtronic offering any settlement offers for their recall claims?
A. Medtronic has a number of pending lawsuits as well as they have not taken any steps to resolve them as yet. Regarding particular cases of Medtronic leads recall action; it is most likely that most of the cases will be settled out of the court.

Q. If I am using one of the Medtronic Sprint Fidelis, can I sue the company?
A. While there are many factors which are still under investigation, it makes sense to opt for legal action for three reasons: (i). Medtronic should have never delivered faulty Sprint Fidelis leads to the market in the first place. (ii). Medtronic was expected to act sooner after the discovery (iii). Any medical product is under strict liability to make safe products.
