Solid Wood Flooring - Beautiful, Strong and Environmental Friendly

Flooring is the uppermost and outermost layer and decoration of the floor. The solid wood flooring entirely constitutes of solid wooden boards. These wooden boards are usually three quarters of an inch in thickness and may be either glued or nailed to the wooden sub-floor.
There are different varieties of solid wood flooring. Basically there are two versions of solid wood flooring, one is unfinished and the other one is pre-finished. The unfinished flooring needs to be sanded on the job site and finished after installation. In the contrary the prefinished flooring just needs installation. The prefinished flooring is sanded and finished at the factory.
1 Beauty: The feeling of warmth, richness and natural beauty are the most important assets of the Solid Wood Flooring. Now these qualities depend on the pattern and color of the stripes, parquetry or planks that form the Flooring. The beauty of the wooden flooring depends on the origin also. The origin could be oak, maple or cherry. It is the nature that creates the variety of looks in hard wood flooring. If taken proper care, the beauty of the solid wood flooring adds up.
2 Strength: The strength of the solid wood flooring depends on the thickness, origin, upper coating, and traffic and last but not the least the care that is taken. The width of the wood planks that are used in the solid wood flooring ranges from 5/16 to ¾ of an inch. The more the width the more is the strength of the solid wood flooring. There are different types of wood. Some types of wood are very sensitive to water while others are resistant to even moisture. Sometimes the upper surface of the wooden plank is coated throughout with sealant and color. This is Acrylic -impregnated wood flooring. This type of wooden flooring is very had and highly resistant to scratches and moisture. The strength of the wooden flooring also depends on the traffic. The more the traffic more is the wear and tear of the flooring. The strength of the wooden flooring depends on the care that you take. Moisture and heat are one of the greatest enemies of wooden flooring. Take care that the possibilities of scratches are the least.
3 Environmental Friendly: Solid Wood Flooring is totally wooden and natural. When we mean being environmentally friendly it means that the wooden flooring is not at the cost of destroying the forests. When we talk about solid wood flooring that is environmentally friendly it means that the wooden flooring is made from easily renewable resources such as bamboo, cork and lyptus.
