What To Enjoy In Brussels - Belgium

Brussels is the largest city in Belgium, and the administrative heart of the European Union (EU). The City of Brussels in the Brussels-Capital Region is the country's capital. Brussels has grown from a 10th century fortress town founded by Charlemagne's grandson into a city of over one million inhabitants

Brussels is also capital of the Brussels-Capital Region, of Flanders and of the French Community of Belgium. It is not, however, the capital of the Walloon Region (Wallonia), whose capital is Namur.The capital city of Belgium is the perfect destination for a city break. With interesting sights, great shopping and, of course, delicious chocolate, with so much to offer, here are the top five reasons to visit.

Shopping

Every girl loves a shopping spree and there’s plenty of retail therapy to be had in Brussels, from classic designer stores on avenue Louise to funky fashion boutiques on rue Antoine Dansaert.

Restaurants

If you love food then you’ll love Brussels. The city is home to Comme Chez Soi, one of the best restaurants in Europe as well as plenty of other bistros, restaurants and cafés catering for all tastes.

Sightseeing

One of Brussels most popular tourist attractions is The Atonium. It was built in 1958 and is said to represent the atoms in a molecule. Another popular attraction is the Mannekin Pis, the statue of a urinating little boy. Brussels is also home to The Musées Royaux des Beaux Arts de Belgique, two museums featuring ancient and modern art.

Beer

If it’s great nightlife you’re after then Brussels has it. And of course, there’s the famous Belgian beer. Belgium has been famous for its breweries since the middle ages when monasteries began producing beer. There are around 125 breweries in the country.

Chocolate

You cannot go to Brussels without sampling some delicious Belgian chocolate. Let’s face it, that’s the first thing we think of when we think of Belgium. Belgian chocolate is the ultimate in chocolate. The city is full of cafés and shops all offering chocolate delights and you’d be silly not to try them!
