What to look for in a car lease There are plenty of factors that make up a good car lease contract. If one carefully goes through a contract, it will save a lot of trouble later. Most contracts are quite reasonable, as the vehicles are bought in large numbers directly from the manufacturers. This is a mutually beneficial arrangement, since the car leasing company can pass on a lot more benefits to the customers. Before hiring a car, one should look for a vehicle with good resale value, as this will bring down the cost of the monthly payments. A normal lease period can last anywhere between 18 and 48 months. If the customer wishes to terminate the contract earlier than the due date, he or she may have to pay a penalty, so this is another thing to look out for. Also one should try and figure out to what extent the car will be used, as an excess mileage charge might apply. Wear and tear clauses must also be looked at. Most lease contracts specify excessive wear and tear charges will have to be accounted for by the customer at the time of returning the car. Also, be sure to check for a modification clause if you are looking to do that, as customers are usually not allowed to modify the vehicle. If all of the above factors are looked at carefully and negotiated well, it will make hiring and leasing cars a lot easier.
