Different Types of Scented Candles
Using Votive Candles for Weddings
Illuminating the venue with votive candles only proves the fact that “marriages are made in heaven”. A votive candle is typically a small white cylindrical candle. It is generally made with paraffin wax that is combined with beeswax. It was originally made in order to be burnt as a votive offering for religious ceremonies but is now used even for decoration purposes. The standard votive candles are two inches high and have a diameter of 1.5 inches. The traditional votive candles are supposed to be pure white, but now there are candles that are available in various colors as well. In old Roman Catholic churches the votive candles are placed before the statue of either Jesus or of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and very often, in older churches, they are placed only before the side altar. Besides the votive candles the tealight candles were also used. They are generally placed in front of the statue. It can be placed either in the candle holder or on the platform provided in front of the statue. The third kind of candle that is used in religious ceremonies is the long taper candles that are placed in special holders.
Pillar Candles and How to Make Them
Making your Own Taper Candles
Taper candles are the most widely used candles along with pillar candles and tealight candles. They are manufactured in millions every year owing to its demand. It is used in many places when there is a power cut or for candle lit dinners. There is no better choice to make than the traditional taper candle. The traditional white taper candles are also used to offer prayers or even make great gifts! Taper candles no doubt have an exciting array of purposes and making them is no less exciting. All you will need is some basic necessary materials to make the candle, which starts with the wax, the wicks, color, scent or aroma oils if you want your taper candles to be perfumed, vessels and moulds, glitter and other candle accessories that will beautify it. The best part about shopping for these materials is that you will have a wide range of each of them to choose from and each material gives a new kind of candle.
For instance you will have a wide range of waxes that you can choose from though it’s the paraffin wax that is typically used. Besides that you will have an array of colors, many wick sizes, loads of different perfumes, and different moulds to choose from. The accessories like the designer taper candle holders, the traditional candle stand, candle chandeliers, and glitter glue are all to make your candle stunning. The process of making the taper candles is easy. This is something that is really fun for children to do, but remember that it should always be done only under adult supervision. First you will have to cover your work place with newspaper or any such material since this can turn out to be a little messy and it is very difficult to scrape off dried wax. Next you must light the stove and put a double container in it, the bigger one that contains water, which in turn helps heat the smaller container that contains the wax that you need. Remember to use the right amount of wax, which will be determined by the size of your mould. If you want the taper candles to be colored you could also add any color of your choice. Make sure to add them in small amounts since the wax will turn into a deeper shade of the same color if it is added in larger amounts.
